Tom Mahon - Optometrist

Dr. Tom Mahon was born on a US Air Force base in Japan. While he spent his early years in Charleston, he has called Georgia his home for much of his life. He attended Furman University and La Grange College to complete his biology degree, but eventually made the decision to devote his interests to eye care. Both of his grandfathers had macular degeneration, and he was inspired to help people in the same way his father had as a pediatrician.

Once he made this decision, Dr. Mahon attended professional school at Nova Southeastern University of the Health Sciences in Florida. It was there that he met his best friend and the love of his life, Dr. Lan Ta Mahon. After building two start up LensCrafters locations in Annapolis Maryland and at the Mall of Georgia, he aspired to work independently.

He founded MountainView Eye Associates in 2003, sharing the location with his wife’s family medicine practice. With his own practice, Dr. Mahon was able to control how he cared for his patients and create a uniquely personal and family-like atmosphere in the workplace. When not working, Dr. Mahon enjoys time with family, his two labradoodles, exploring new restaurants, movies, projects around the home, geek reading, travel and outdoor activities.

Our staff and opticians are thoroughly trained and knowledgeable in all aspects of the optical field, including selecting frames that best suit the patient's face and style, recommending the appropriate lens and lens options, repairing eye glasses and sunglasses, and fabricating spectacles in plastic, metal, and rimless frames.
